National Stock Exchange of India is preparing for one of the country’s largest initial public offerings, expected to raise more than ₹22,000 crore. The price band has been set between ₹1,700 and ₹1,785 per share, making this the second biggest IPO in Indian history.

Major financial institutions are reducing their stakes to book profits. State Bank of India, the largest shareholder, will sell 1.6 crore shares. With its cost of acquisition at less than one rupee per share, the bank is likely to earn nearly ₹2,856 crore. Bank of Baroda will offload 76.9 lakh shares, which could fetch about ₹1,272 crore.

New India Assurance is also set to gain significantly, selling 1.05 crore shares for an estimated ₹1,874 crore. General Insurance Corporation and Stock Holding Corporation of India are each expected to earn more than ₹1,100 crore. Other participants in the sale include SBI Capital Markets, United India Insurance, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, Ananda Investments, and MS Strategic from Mauritius.

This offering highlights how early investors are cashing in on their low-cost holdings. With strong institutional participation and attractive valuations, the NSE IPO is expected to draw wide interest from both retail and institutional investors. The issue marks a milestone for India’s capital markets, showcasing the scale of profits available to long-term stakeholders as the exchange steps into the public domain.
