Tata Sons’ planned initial public offering could bring unexpected attention to some low‑profile shareholders. Investment bankers value the company between ₹9 lakh crore and ₹12.5 lakh crore. With 404,146 ordinary shares, each could be worth ₹2.23 crore to ₹3.09 crore. This listing may reveal fortunes of family members who have stayed away from public limelight.

Jimmy Naval Tata holds 3,262 shares, which could be valued between ₹7,264 crore and ₹10,089 crore. The late Ratan Tata’s 3,368 shares would be worth ₹7,500 crore to ₹10,417 crore. Piloo Minocher Tata owns 487 shares, valued at ₹1,085 crore to ₹1,506 crore. Jimmy Minocher Tata and Vera Farhad Choksey each hold 157 shares, worth ₹350 crore to ₹486 crore.

Tata Trusts remain the largest shareholder with 66% stake, while Shapoorji Pallonji Group owns 18.4%. Other Tata companies and individuals hold smaller stakes.

The listing is expected to unlock liquidity and highlight hidden wealth, though actual gains will depend on issue structure, dilution, taxes and restrictions. The Reserve Bank of India’s rejection of Tata Sons’ bid to surrender its Core Investment Company status has made the IPO inevitable.

This offering could become one of India’s largest and spotlight fortunes of lesser‑known Tata family members.
