India will increase its green energy budget by at least ₹10,000 crore, making the total around ₹30,000 crore. The PM Surya Ghar scheme aims to install 50 lakh rooftop solar units by March 2026. So far, it has achieved 7 lakh installations and needs to accelerate to meet its targets.

Flagship schemes like Green Energy Corridors, PM-KUSUM, Renewable Energy Parks, and the National Green Hydrogen Mission will also get more funds. The government targets 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity by 2030. Extra funding will support the growth of solar and wind power, which saw record additions in 2024.

India added over 24.5 GW of solar and 3.4 GW of wind capacity in 2024. Government incentives, policy reforms, and higher investments in domestic manufacturing fueled this growth. The larger budget will further solidify India’s position as a global leader in clean energy.
