ITC Hotels’ shares recently listed at ₹180 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), which is 30% less than the expected price of ₹260. This follows the demerger of its hotel business from ITC Ltd. For every ten ITC shares, shareholders received one ITC Hotel share.
The hotel’s current market capitalization is around ₹54,000-56,000 crore. Yet, the shares traded significantly below the predicted price upon listing. This drop was due to the price discovery session conducted by the stock exchanges.
ITC Hotels’ portfolio includes Welcomhotel, Mementos, Storii, Fortune, and WelcomHeritage brands. The demerger aims to unlock shareholder value and focus on hotel business growth. Despite the initial dip, analysts see promise in ITC Hotels’ asset-light growth strategy and potential in India’s hospitality sector.
