Tamil cinema has been set ablaze by the roaring success of Rajinikanth’s latest offering, “Jailer.” The film’s debut on Thursday skyrocketed it to become the year’s most spectacular opener. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, “Jailer” raked in a staggering Rs 52 crore on its opening day in India. Adding to the triumph, the movie’s net collections tallied an impressive Rs 44.5 crore.

This triumph has propelled “Jailer” to claim the distinguished title of 2023’s largest Tamil film opener, surpassing the previous record held by “Ponniyin Selvan 2,” directed by Mani Ratnam, which earned Rs 32 crore on its initial day.

Throughout its much-anticipated premiere, “Jailer” held an impressive occupancy rate of 78.62%. The film’s gross collection was strategically spread across various regions, with Tamil Nadu contributing a significant Rs 23 crore, Karnataka contributing Rs 11 crore, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana collectively adding Rs 10 crore, and Kerala contributing Rs 5 crore.
