According to the latest ‘Forbes World’s Billionaires List 2024′, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, maintains his position as India’s wealthiest individual, boasting a staggering wealth of $116 billion. Ambani’s wealth surge of 39.76% propels him into the exclusive $100 billion club, securing him the 9th spot globally.

Following closely is Gautam Adani, Chairman of Adani Group, with a formidable net worth of $84 billion, occupying the second spot among India’s wealthiest individuals. Meanwhile, Savitri Jindal, retaining her status as India’s richest woman, solidifies her position as the country’s 4th wealthiest person, amassing assets totaling $33.5 billion.

The Forbes list features 200 individuals from India, marking an increase from 169 in the previous year, positioning India as the third-largest source of billionaires globally. The collective wealth of these individuals has surged to $954 billion, witnessing a remarkable 41% jump from the previous year. Notably, 25 individuals debuted on the list this year, including notable names like Ramesh Kunhikannan of Kaynes Tech, Naresh Trehan of Medanta, and Renuka Jagtiani of Landmark Group.

Globally, the number of billionaires has expanded to 2,781, with Bernard Arnault and family leading the pack with assets worth $233 billion. The report highlights that despite geopolitical tensions and inflation concerns, global stock markets have buoyed billionaires’ fortunes, reaching a staggering aggregate wealth of $14.2 trillion, up $2 trillion from the previous year.

The United States remains the epicenter of billionaire wealth, boasting 813 individuals in the elite club, followed by China with 473 billionaires (including Hong Kong). India secures the third position with 200 billionaires.

The Forbes World’s Billionaires List 2024 also outlines the top 10 wealthiest Indians, with Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani leading the pack, followed by prominent figures such as Shiv Nadar, Savitri Jindal & family, and Dilip Shanghvi.
