Early on January 29, 2025, a tragic stampede at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj led to significant casualties. During the auspicious Mauni Amavasya, millions gathered at the Sangam for the Amrit Snan, causing overcrowding. The crowd’s pressure led to a barrier break, resulting in a stampede. Around 30 people died, and 36 were injured. Emergency services responded promptly, and those hurt received medical attention. In light of the incident, several ‘akhadas’ postponed their rituals. High-ranking officials, including Prime Minister Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath, are actively monitoring the situation.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the families affected by this distressing event.
