Ahmedabad, Sep 2 : Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) has further strengthened its position as India’s leading private sector transmission company by completing the acquisition of the Khavda Phase-IV Part-A transmission project. This 298 km project, valued at Rs 4,091 crore, will facilitate the evacuation of 7 GW of renewable energy from the Khavda renewable energy (RE) park into the national grid.

AESL secured the project through a tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process and plans to commission it within the next 24 months, with a maintenance commitment for the following 35 years.

Kandarp Patel, Chief Executive Officer of AESL, highlighted the significance of the Khavda project, noting, “As the world’s largest renewable energy park, Khavda requires a power evacuation infrastructure that is not only world-class but also resilient and future-ready.” This investment will create the crucial transmission network needed to evacuate the planned 30 GW of green power from Khavda, contributing significantly to grid stability.

“AESL is proud to contribute to this initiative, which will play a pivotal role in the seamless integration of green energy into the national grid, advancing India’s journey towards net zero,” Patel added.

To execute this project, AESL acquired Khavda IVA Power Transmission Ltd, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) established by REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL) for evacuating 7 GW of renewable energy from the Khavda RE park. AESL’s receipt of a letter of intent (LOI) from REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd further solidifies its leadership in India’s energy transition.

With the acquisition, AESL now manages 21,783 ckm of transmission lines and 61,686 MVA of transformation capacity. The Khavda RE park, with its planned generation capacity of 30 GW, is set to play a crucial role in India’s decarbonization efforts.

The Adani Group’s focused approach will transform Khavda from a barren landscape into a landmark on India’s path to achieving net zero, the company stated.
