The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has issued a warning about a new scam called the Call Merging Scam. Scammers trick people into merging calls and revealing their One-Time Passwords (OTPs), leading to unauthorized transactions and financial losses.

How the Scam Works

Scammers call their targets and request them to merge their calls, often pretending to be from a bank or a financial institution. Once the calls are merged, they convince the victim to share OTPs or other sensitive information. This results in unauthorized access to bank accounts and potential financial losses.

How to Stay Protected

  1. Never Share OTPs: Never share your OTPs or any sensitive information over the phone, especially with unknown callers.
  2. Verify Caller Identity: Always verify the identity of the caller before merging calls or sharing information.
  3. Report Suspicious Calls: If you receive suspicious calls, report them immediately by calling 1930, the national cyber-crime helpline.
  4. Stay Informed: Keep yourself updated about the latest scams and security measures to protect yourself.

By following these steps, you can safeguard yourself from falling victim to this scam. Stay vigilant and protect your money!
