Jio IPO ₹30,213 crore sparks Reliance market re‑rating

Jio Platforms is preparing for a landmark public issue worth ₹30,213 crore. The IPO, opening on October 21, 2026, values the company at ₹10.3 lakh crore at the upper price band. Reliance Industries, which owns 66.43% of Jio, will see its stake reduce to 64.48% after the issue. At current valuation, Reliance’s holding is worth nearly ₹6.8 lakh crore.

The IPO price band is fixed between ₹1,065 and ₹1,119 per share, with 27 crore fresh shares on offer. Analysts believe this listing will provide independent market valuation for Jio, helping investors assess Reliance’s diverse businesses more clearly. Brokerage firms call it a structural turning point that may lead to re‑rating of Reliance Industries.

However, conglomerates often face holding company discounts. Market experts note that Reliance already trades at an 18–36% discount on its Jio stake. This means much of Jio’s value may already be reflected in Reliance’s share price.

For investors, the key watchpoint will be how Jio performs independently in the market. Transparent pricing could attract new institutional interest, but risks remain in terms of sector competition, execution of 5G services, and possible overvaluation.

The Jio IPO is not only about raising funds. It is a crucial test of whether Reliance Industries can unlock hidden value or if its current market price already captures Jio’s contribution.
