Elon Musk is preparing a major political push in the United States. Reports say he plans to spend between $100 million and $120 million through his America PAC to support Republican candidates in the upcoming midterm elections. The focus will be on Senate and House races across several states, with voter turnout operations being the main strategy.
The Senate contests will include Alaska, Iowa, Maine, Michigan and Ohio, with possible expansion to North Carolina, Georgia and Texas. House races in California, Wisconsin and Washington are also part of the plan. Musk is expected to work with conservative groups such as Americans for Prosperity and Sentinel Action Fund to strengthen Republican chances.
This move comes months after Musk’s fallout with President Donald Trump in 2025, when he criticised Trump’s tax and spending policies and even threatened to form a third party. Though relations soured, allies like JD Vance and Donald Trump Jr kept communication open. Musk later returned to the White House, signalling renewed support for Republicans.
In 2024, Musk spent nearly $300 million backing Trump’s presidential campaign. This time, he aims for a quieter role, focusing on field operations rather than public campaigning. Musk admitted he got too involved in politics earlier and now wants a more strategic approach.
