US authorities are reportedly preparing to end fraud charges against Indian billionaire Gautam Adani, Asia’s richest man. According to people familiar with the matter, the Justice Department could announce this week that it is dropping the criminal case that has clouded Adani’s global standing for over a year.

At the same time, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is said to be moving toward settling a parallel civil fraud case filed in November 2024 against Adani and others. These developments mark a significant shift in the long-running legal battle, which had raised questions about Adani’s business empire and its compliance with US regulations.

The move to resolve both criminal and civil proceedings suggests that American regulators may be closing one of the most high-profile cases involving an Indian corporate leader. For Adani, this could ease international scrutiny and restore investor confidence, especially after months of uncertainty surrounding his group’s operations.

While details of the settlement remain confidential, the expected announcements highlight how global regulators handle cross-border corporate investigations. If finalized, the resolution would remove a major legal hurdle for Adani, allowing him to focus on expanding his infrastructure and energy businesses across India and beyond.

This week could prove pivotal for Adani, potentially ending a chapter that has weighed heavily on his reputation and market outlook.
