India is investing ₹23,731 crore in compressed biogas under the GOBARdhan scheme, aiming to turn waste into clean fuel. The government has set blending obligations starting at 1% in FY26 and rising to 5% by FY29. States like Maharashtra are adding incentives, strengthening the push for green energy.

Praj Industries is leading with its RenGas technology that cuts costs by 30% and boosts yields. It has partnerships with BPCL and Indian Oil for biogas and aviation fuel. Co-products like organic manure and bio-bitumen add extra revenue streams.

Va Tech Wabag plans to build 100 plants globally with Peak Sustainability. Its Ghaziabad project converts sewage into bio-CNG, serving homes and vehicles. With an order book of ₹17,235 crore, it is expanding into hydrogen, solar, and ultra-pure water.

TruAlt Bioenergy focuses on sugarcane waste and spent wash. Its Karnataka plant runs at 78% utilisation with margins above 55%. Joint ventures with Sumitomo and GAIL will add more plants, with GAIL ensuring 80–90% offtake worth ₹600 crore annually.

These companies are positioned to benefit from India’s waste-to-fuel revolution, combining technology, partnerships, and assured demand to drive the next energy shift.
