Iran has taken a tough stand against the United States, making it clear that no negotiations will happen with President Donald Trump until his term finishes in 2029. Iranian officials say they will continue their current approach of “neither war nor peace,” focusing on patience and strategy rather than direct talks.
Majid Shakeri, adviser to Iran’s Parliament Speaker, stated that Trump will not reach any agreement with Tehran. He explained that Iran’s path is to manage the situation without military escalation or formal deals until conditions favour victory. He also warned against publicly acknowledging any talks with Washington, calling it a mistake.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed that Iran is not engaged in negotiations with the US. He said communication is limited to indirect exchanges through intermediaries, which cannot be called real negotiations. Tehran insists that Washington must first correct violations of a recent Memorandum of Understanding before any talks can resume.
Iran’s demands remain unchanged: $300 billion in compensation, release of frozen assets abroad, and withdrawal of US forces from the region. Officials also declared that the Strait of Hormuz will stay closed until these conditions are met, turning the waterway into a symbol of resistance.
This stance highlights the deep divide between Washington and Tehran, with little chance of progress until Trump’s presidency ends.
