Govt Employees Seek ₹36,000 Minimum salary Under New 8th Pay Commission

Central government employees expect ₹36,000 as the minimum salary from the 8th Pay Commission. M. Raghavaiah of the National Council-Joint Consultative Machinery (NC-JCM) advocates this amount, based on the Dr. Aykroyd formula, which exceeds the previously requested ₹32,500. They also call for a fitment factor of 2.0, higher than the earlier commission’s 2.57. Addressing inflation, this fitment factor ensures broader salary hikes. The NC-JCM, employee unions, and public sector entities will deliberate on the recommendations. These revisions aim to align salaries with inflation and support sustainable economic growth. The 8th Pay Commission plans to submit its report after thorough consultations.
