Jio Platforms Limited (JPL) has signed an agreement with SpaceX to provide Starlink’s high-speed broadband services in India. This deal is subject to SpaceX receiving the necessary approvals from the Indian government. Once approved, Jio will offer Starlink services through its retail outlets and online platforms, expanding internet access to even the most remote areas of the country.

Jio, India’s largest data carrier, will combine its extensive network with Starlink’s low Earth orbit satellite technology to deliver reliable and fast internet. The partnership aims to improve connectivity for homes, businesses, and rural areas, enhancing India’s digital infrastructure.

Jio will also handle the installation and activation of Starlink equipment, ensuring smooth customer service. Starlink’s satellite-based internet will complement Jio’s existing JioAirFiber and JioFiber services, providing high-speed access in challenging locations.

Mathew Oommen, CEO of Reliance Jio, said this partnership marks a major step in providing affordable internet to every Indian. Gwynne Shotwell, President of SpaceX, expressed excitement about working with Jio to improve connectivity in India.

This agreement reflects Jio’s commitment to making high-speed internet available to all, strengthening India’s position in the global digital economy.
