Nifty 500 index is showing deep cracks as nearly half of its stocks have entered a hidden bear market. Data shows 252 companies (50.4%) are down 30%+ from peaks, while 167 stocks (33.4%) have lost 40%+ and 102 counters (20%) have dropped 50%+ in value. Almost 90% of Nifty 500 stocks are at least 10% below highs, highlighting weak breadth.

Big Names Hit Hard

– ITC has slipped 31% this year due to higher tobacco taxes.

– Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Birlasoft, LTM have corrected 30%+ amid uncertainty over AI disruption in IT services.

– KPIT Technologies has plunged 53% after weak revenue guidance.

– Rail Vikas Nigam has dropped 36% following a sharp fall in quarterly profit.

– Tata Elxsi is down nearly 48% from its 52‑week high.

– Reliance Power, Inox Wind, KEC International, Swiggy and several others have also lost 30–50%.

Analysts’ View

Experts caution that the decline looks more like a macro‑driven grind than a washout. True bottoms usually show forced selling, volatility spikes, and capitulation, which are not visible yet. Persistent foreign institutional investor outflows continue to weigh on sentiment. Relief rallies may appear, but a durable recovery depends on easing external pressures and stronger earnings visibility.
