Paytm’s promoter entity Resilient Asset Management B.V., linked to founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma, is set to sell nearly 5% stake in One97 Communications through a block deal. The floor price has been fixed at ₹1,535 per share, which is about 2.9% lower than the closing price on the National Stock Exchange. On the Bombay Stock Exchange, Paytm shares ended at ₹1,583, down 1.31% or ₹21.

The sale comes soon after Paytm reported strong first quarter results. Net profit rose 79% year on year to ₹220 crore compared with ₹123 crore in the same quarter last year. Sequentially, profit increased 20% from ₹183 crore. Revenue grew 28% year on year to ₹2,448 crore, while merchant gross merchandise value touched ₹7.1 lakh crore, up 31%. Unified Payments Interface gross transaction value surged 45% to ₹5.9 lakh crore, more than double the industry growth rate.

Monthly transacting users rose to 8 crore, while merchants on subscription climbed to 1.57 crore. Net payment revenue excluding incentives stood at ₹601 crore, up 25%. Paytm’s soundbox network expanded to 1.57 crore storefronts. The company’s cash balance improved to ₹13,529 crore.

The block deal signals promoter dilution but fundamentals remain strong, highlighting Paytm’s resilience in digital payments and merchant services.
