Nearly 80% of Indians are planning to use their credit card rewards points for leisure travel this year, according to a survey by American Express. These points will help them cover expenses like flights, hotels, and car rentals. The survey, part of the 2025 Global Travel Trends Report, highlights how Indians are seeking more meaningful and immersive travel experiences.

Interestingly, 84% of respondents believe combining credit card rewards with loyalty programs offers the best value for international trips. Many are also linking their cards with dining partners to maximize benefits. The report also reveals a growing trend of event-driven travel, with 58% planning trips for concerts or shows and 63% for cricket matches.

Indian travelers are increasingly focused on supporting local businesses, with 84% aiming to shop locally during their trips. Additionally, 92% are keen on buying unique souvenirs, while 50% are planning trips specifically to purchase luxury items.

Technology plays a big role in travel planning, with 67% relying on travel websites, 55% on social media, and 51% consulting friends and family. This shift reflects a desire for well-researched, enriching travel experiences.
