Finance Minister has cautioned that inflationary pressures are rising due to the ongoing global conflict, which has disrupted supply chains and pushed up energy and commodity costs. She added that the El Niño weather phenomenon is expected to further influence inflation trends this year, especially by affecting food prices and rural incomes.

The minister explained that the government is closely monitoring these risks and has already made adequate provisions to cushion the economy. Additional resources have been allocated to address unforeseen challenges, ensuring that essential supplies remain stable even if weather conditions worsen. She stressed that the government’s priority is to protect households from sharp price increases and maintain food security.

Officials believe that while global shocks are unavoidable, India’s preparedness can reduce their impact. Buffer funds have been set aside to support vulnerable sectors, and contingency measures are being planned to safeguard farmers and consumers. The government is also working with agencies to track rainfall patterns and commodity movements to anticipate inflationary pressures early.

Her remarks underline the delicate balance between external shocks like war and climate events, and domestic resilience. By building financial buffers and preparing for El Niño, the government aims to keep inflation under control and sustain economic stability.
