Indian appliance makers will raise prices of air conditioners, televisions, refrigerators and washing machines from October 1. The increase will be between 5% and 8%, marking the third revision in 2026. Rising costs of copper, steel, aluminium, crude derivatives, freight and currency volatility have forced companies to act.
Blue Star, Godrej Appliances, Haier, Daikin and Super Plastronics have confirmed hikes ranging from 4% to 10% across categories. LG and Bosch Home Comfort have already raised air conditioner prices by about 5%. Voltas has informed trade partners of a 5% to 7% increase in room air conditioners. Panasonic is still evaluating its decision.
Industry executives say air conditioners will face the steepest rise of 5% to 8%. Televisions, refrigerators and washing machines will see smaller increases of 3% to 4%. This round of hikes follows sustained inflation in input materials and higher freight charges.
Some companies fear demand may soften during the festive season. However, dealers have stocked inventory at older prices through pre‑buying schemes, which may cushion buyers temporarily. Compared with last year’s festive season, appliance costs are up nearly 15%. After accounting for GST benefits of about 10%, the net burden for consumers is roughly 5% higher.
