Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has underlined India and Japan’s equal commitment to expanding bilateral trade and strengthening economic ties. He noted that India currently hosts around 1,500 Japanese companies and expressed confidence that this number could double to 3,000 in the coming years. Japan is expected to invest nearly 10 trillion yen in India over the next decade, a move that will significantly boost industrial cooperation and economic growth.

Goyal highlighted India’s welcoming approach towards Japanese firms, offering them access to a large consumer market, modern infrastructure, and supportive policies. He praised the industrial base and precision manufacturing expertise seen in Japan, stressing that such mastery can complement India’s growth ambitions. Out of the planned ₹7 lakh crore investment, about 15% has already flowed into India, reflecting strong momentum in the partnership.

The minister emphasised that India is committed to handholding Japanese companies, ensuring ease of doing business, and creating opportunities across sectors such as manufacturing, technology, and infrastructure. This collaboration is expected to deepen supply chain integration, enhance innovation, and create jobs while strengthening India’s position as a global investment destination. The growing synergy between India’s expanding market and Japan’s advanced manufacturing capabilities signals a promising future for bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
