RBI ‘s note printing subsidiary has invited EOI to supply polymer substrate embedded with advanced security features designed to enhance the durability of banknotes and strengthen protection against counterfeiting.

Bidders, domestic or global, including technology collaborators, joint venture partners or subsidiaries, must have at least three years’ experience supplying polymer substrate with security features to a central bank or banknote/security printing organisation and must offer a minimum of 20,400 reams (30% of the indicative quantity) to qualify.

Based on the strict eligibility criteria (especially the 3-year experience requirement in supplying security-featured polymer substrate to central banks), most Indian companies are currently not eligible.

Indian manufactures may have to collaborate to eligible foreign partners in order to become eligible .

Potential Indian Suppliers :

1. Jindal Poly Films Ltd

2. Cosmo First Limited

3. SRF Limited

4. Polyplex Ltd

5. Uflex Limited

Watch this development closely.
