Donald Trump’s approval rating has dropped sharply to a record‑low 33%, reflecting rising voter frustration over inflation, living costs, and economic uncertainty. The latest FT–Focaldata survey of 1,914 registered voters highlights growing unease within the Republican camp ahead of the November midterms.

Nearly 46% of respondents believe Trump is making it harder for Republican congressional candidates to secure victories, underscoring concerns that his political presence may be turning into a liability. The poll also shows Democrats holding a 7.5‑point lead over Republicans in voting intentions, a significant margin that could shape the electoral landscape.

Analysts suggest that Trump’s declining popularity is not just about policy dissatisfaction but also about broader perceptions of leadership and accountability. With economic pressures weighing heavily on households, many voters appear to be shifting towards Democratic candidates, hoping for stronger responses to cost‑of‑living challenges.

Republican strategists now face the difficult task of balancing Trump’s influence with the need to appeal to swing voters. The findings raise questions about whether the GOP can overcome internal divisions and regain momentum before November. For Democrats, the numbers provide fresh momentum, though sustaining this lead will depend on continued voter confidence in their economic agenda.
